[Burning Man Header]

Just because we were in the desert, don't get the idea that we didn't eat well. Ice was available for the coolers, so we at eggs, cold cut sammiches, grilled chicken, and even steak one night. Of course, everything that goes in, has to come out.

Plenty of 'art vehicles' drove by our camp daily, but one of our favorites was Mr. Freezing Man, which gave out free ice cream. It would have been more appreciated if the weather was hot, but it was unseasonably cool, and downright cold at night.

Then there were the storms. Brutal dust storms with up to 70 MPH winds, so we were told. They destroyed several camps and tested our camping skills to the extreme. They were fun in retrospect.

During a lull in the dust, Mary and I relaxed inside a sound sculpture consisting of 16 speakers arranged in a circle, all pointing inward and controlled by a central computer. In ultimate surround sound they played everything from pop music to ocean sound effects (really a great juxtaposition to the desert).
