Eastbound

Sunday saw the playa engulfed in nasty dust storm. The wind gusted, visibility was low, and dust got everywhere. Loading up for the trip home became quite miserable.

Monday morning was the first day I was up early enough to see the dawn, and it was a beautiful one. After a last goodbye to Monte, the only other soul from our camp stirring at that hour, we climbed in along with Betsy, a fellow burner from Minnesota, and headed East. Wednesday dusk saw us on I-88 in Illinois, and we arrived in Des Plaines that night. It was good to be home.

Thanks to everyone at Burnstream Court who made this a fun, social week on the playa. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2004. Thanks also to Jeanne and Tony for the excellent company and the Rockstar beverages, which kept me going a couple of nights when I was ready to turn in. James and Ingrid, thanks for a great week on the playa. Special thanks to Phil for making this trip possible, and greetings to JP in France!

More photos: Jeanne and Tony, Kristen and Mary, and Moses and Lucy. Do you have Burnstream photos online that I haven't mentioned here? Please let me know!

Happy burning!
