Intro

In 2000, I went to Burning Man with Mary, my late wife. After she died, I was determined to go again in 2002, and to do it in style with Betty, our Airstream. To help make this happen, my friend in SF, Mike K, offered to fly to Chicago to drive out there with me. Without him, I don't know that would have pulled it off. Thanks, Mike!

I tried a bit of an experiment, taking as my only camera a Lomo. The Lomo is a cheap Russian camera to which an Austrian company has worked hard to give almost cult status, at least you'd think so by reading their web sight. While cheap, the camera is solidly built, and has some interesting optics. It is not, however, a great point-and-click, and it can be very unpredictable, especially at night. Here is a prime example of stunning Lomo shot that is not very useful for documentation:

The best of my images are here, together with a few from Mike and James & Ingrid (which will have MK and JI in their filenames, respectively), and several from the Lomo taken by other people (a lot of these are by James). Just in case it doesn't go without saying, click on any of the images for a larger version. All images herein are copyright 2002 by me, Mike K, or James & Ingrid, as indicated. Permission is required for any use other than viewing here.

Enjoy!
